Disposal

Non-electronic toys are safe to place in the trash.

Battery-operated toys without a digital display are safe to place in the trash.

Battery-operated toys with a digital display should NOT be placed in the trash. Consider these disposal options:

  • City clean up events (City clean-up events generally provide electronic waste disposal at a reduced cost.)
  • Bring electronics to a disposal company below. Call to verify items accepted, hours and fees.

Recycle

If you have toys that are not usable, several brands offer recycling programs through Terracycle. Currently, these include Hasbro, Spin Master toys and games, and Vtech & LeapFrog electronic learning devices and electronic toys. Mattel Playback also offers recycling for some of their plastic toys, including Barbie®, Fisher-Price®, Matchbox® and MEGA® toys.
