Board of commissioners declares October 2023 as Disability Employment Awareness Month
The Ramsey County Board of Commissioners has declared October 2023 as Disability Employment Awareness Month. 2023 marks the 33rd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the 78th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
Employees with disabilities are valuable and skillful as well as productive contributors to the economy. Citizens with disabilities are the largest and most diverse minority group within the population representing all abilities, ages, races, ethnicities, religions and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Ramsey County will continue expanding supported employment, career exploration and the employee resource group Supported Employees Efforts Manifest Equity, also known as SEEME.
