Jennifer Schuster-Jaeger has been named the permanent Director of Health and Wellness Administration, effective immediately. She has served as interim director since March 2020, and previously worked as Deputy Director of Administrative Services for Community Corrections.

“Jennifer’s leadership over the last three years and her work on the Early Childhood Care and Education initiative, digital equity, modernization of the procurement processes and technology improvements make her an excellent choice to lead this division,” said Kathy Hedin, Health and Wellness Deputy County Manager. “The breadth and depth of her experience in county government and at nonprofits, and her Residents First focus will be invaluable as we restructure operations to focus on strategy and innovation through our service team’s Better Together initiative.”

Schuster-Jaeger began work with Ramsey County in 2015 at Community Corrections where she led administrative services in the areas of contracts, finance, staff development, evaluation, strategic planning and information technology. She previously worked at Hennepin County where she held multiple leadership positions in human services, community corrections and public health. She began her career working in a teen health center in Boston and working on tobacco prevention efforts in Massachusetts.

Schuster-Jaeger earned a bachelor’s degree in Latin American studies from Carleton College and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of North Carolina. She lives in Minneapolis where her community involvement has included volunteering at the Simpson Shelter, her church and the Human Systems Dynamics Institute.

Health and Wellness Administration provides a number of services to Health and Wellness Service Team departments including research, data and evaluation, business and functional systems support, and management of electronic health records. The division currently has 129 staff and a $30 million annual budget.
