Legal Considerations

It is illegal in Minnesota to recycle a keg as scrap metal if you aren’t the manufacturer, brewer or an authorized representative of the manufacturer or brewer (Sec. 325E.21).

Disposal

Reach out to the original vendor where the keg was purchased or rented from see if they will take it back. Check to see if the keg is labeled with a company name if you are unsure where it is from.

Kegs should not be put in household recycling.
