McKnight Road 4-to-3 Lane Conversion

Contact us

In 2024, a pavement maintenance project is planned for McKnight Road which spans from 11th Avenue to Karth Road. The primary focus of this project is the removal and replacement of the existing surface layer with fresh, smooth pavement. As part of the project, McKnight Road will be transformed from a 4 lane to a 3 lane configuration, complete with a center turn lane.

Furthermore, the project includes the addition of ADA sidewalk improvements to enhance accessibility. Before, during, and immediately after construction, land surveying crews will be actively working in the project area.

An important note for property owners is that there will be no cost incurred on their part for this project.

Timeline

  • 2023: Land surveying work is currently underway.
  • Summer 2024: Construction is set to begin.

The conversion of McKnight Road to a 3-lane road was included as part of the 2020 Ramsey County 4-to-3 Lane Conversion Study. Based on several factors included crash patterns, traffic volumes and access point management; McKnight Road was found to be a good candidate for the conversion.

This improvement will provide the following benefits to vehicular traffic on McKnight Road:
