The Pretrial Justice Division allows for innovation and improvement at the front door of the criminal justice system where decisions are made about whether an individual should be charged with a crime, arrested on warrant or summoned to court, diverted to a better alternative intervention, held in custody prior to trial, or released with or without conditions.
It encompasses the following functions and policies: charging, pre-charge and post-charge diversion including all treatment courts, bail and pre-trial custody/supervision, plea offers prior to the pre-trial hearing and law enforcement diversion, and financial fraud investigations and prosecution.
This division is organized into the following units to help increase public safety while simultaneously considering the best outcome of interaction with the criminal justice system for individuals accused of an offense.
