Skiing & Snowshoeing
Tamarack Nature Center is home to beautiful cross-country ski trails and the only designated snowshoe trail in the county parks system.
Tamarack's ski trail system includes a 4K more difficult loop, 3K easier loop and 1K practice loop that's perfect for beginners.
- All skiers age 16 and older are required to have a Minnesota State Ski Pass to use Tamarack trails.
- Daily passes can be purchased with winter recreation equipment rental for $10/person.
- Season passes may be purchased directly through the DNR website for $25/person.
- Passes are not required for snowshoeing.
Winter Recreation Rental Shack
Tamarack's ski and snowshoe rental shack provides everything you need for a scenic winter trek through our snow-covered prairie and woodland. Hours throughout the season may also be dependent on snow and trail conditions.
The Winter Recreation Rental Shack is open.
Holiday closures: December 24, 25 & 31, January 1 & 17 and February 21.
Hours throughout the season may vary based on weather and trail conditions. Changes to the schedule will be posted on the Cross-Country Skiing page.

Programs and lessons
Tamarack is an ideal setting to learn how to cross-country ski or snowshoe, and we offer a variety of programs and lessons for both youth and adults. Lessons are geared for beginners and those looking to improve their skills.
