Unwanted Medicine

Medicines from households are accepted in any form, including prescription, over-the-counter, vitamins, supplements and pet medicines.

Examples

• Blister packs.
• Capsules and pills.
• Creams and gels.
• EpiPens (unused).
• Inhalers.
• IV bags.
• Liquids.
• Patches.
• Powders.
• Sprays.
• Syringes (full and capped).
• Vials.

Items NOT accepted

• No empty needles or syringes. Bring them to the Environmental Center. 
• No uncapped needles or syringes.
• No liquid chemo drugs. Bring them back to your clinic.
• No medicine from businesses. This includes health care facilities, long-term care facilities, pharmacies, doctors’ offices and veterinary clinics.

Step 1:
Keep medicines in their original container for legal transport. Put loose medicines in a clear, resealable plastic bag and label it with the medicine name.

Step 2:
Seal all containers in clear, resealable plastic bags, ideally one-gallon or smaller size.

Step 3:
​Place bag with medicine into drop box.

Many area pharmacies have a medicine collection program. Check specific pharmacy for locations, hours and items accepted.
