Public health epidemiologists provide information and consultation to control communicable diseases and investigate acute disease outbreaks. They also conduct surveillance of many reportable diseases, gather and analyze disease statistics for Ramsey County.

Infectious disease manual
The manual is used to inform childcare providers, parents, and school health staff about specific infectious disease problems they may encounter in childcare settings or schools. The manual is designed to provide specific disease prevention and control guidelines.
Report infectious disease
Physicians, health care facilities, medical laboratories, and in certain circumstances, veterinarians and veterinary medical laboratories are required by law to report certain infectious diseases to the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH).
Report illness caused by contaminated food or water
Foodborne or waterborne illness should be reported to the Minnesota Department of Health Foodborne Illness Hotline at 1-877-FOOD-ILL or 1-877-366-3455
