The Ramsey County Public Health Awards, sponsored by Saint Paul - Ramsey County Public Health, recognize an individual or group who has made an exceptional contribution to improving health and advancing health equity in Ramsey County. Nominations for these awards typically have been accepted starting in November with awardees selected and recognized during National Public Health Week in April. Nominations for the awards are not being taken at this time, check back here for future announcements.
Award categories
Youth-Focused: Individual or Group
An individual 18 years or younger at time of nomination, or a group that is youth led (peer support, 4-H club or other youth organization).
Adult: Individual or Group
An individual 18 years or older at time of nomination, or a group (partnerships, community coalitions, organizations, etc.).
2019 award winners
East Side Neighborhood Development Company
For the nonprofit’s work to reduce child lead poisoning in low-income, inner-city neighborhoods.
The Hmong TB Advisory Council
For its work to increase awareness of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis and to stop its transmission in the community.
Dissel Moo - High school student
For mentoring youth at Sejong Academy about healthy choices and active living.
Tamara Stark
For her work to prevent violence and create safe spaces for youth and adults.

Saint Paul Public Schools -- Dayton’s Bluff Achievement Plus Elementary, the district’s Student Placement Center, and Somali Cultural Specialist Mohamed Hadi
For their work to promote immunizations before and during the 2017 measles outbreak.
Shoreview resident Eugene Nichols
For his leadership in reducing youth access to tobacco products and his long-standing work promoting health, mental health and wellbeing.
United Family Medicine and the Mitchell Hamline School of Law
For their partnership to help clinic patients address legal issues that affect health.

Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome’s YouthACT Thundercats
A youth group working to improve outcomes for individuals with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders.
The Kitty Andersen Youth Science Center at the Science Museum of Minnesota
A program that engages youth in leadership opportunities to use Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) skills to address personal and community health issues.
Interfaith Action of Greater Saint Paul’s Department of Indian Work
For their efforts to improve the health of the local American Indian Community through the East-Metro American Indian Diabetes Initiative.

Youth program within the Aurora Saint Anthony Neighborhood Development Corporation, for its education and advocacy regarding flavored tobacco in Saint Paul.
Everybody’s Garden, a Mounds View Public Schools
Project that integrates food insecurity education and community service at school gardens used to grow healthy organic produce for a local food shelf.
Children’s Dental Services Dental Team
For their work to reduce health disparities among low-income children, immigrants and refugees in Saint Paul, by providing culturally appropriate, and accessible dental care where communities naturally congregate.

Urban Roots
For cultivating youth leaders to connect with community members to grow fresh produce, promote organic practices, and the cooking and eating of healthy foods.

For its work to address health disparities by fostering a culture of health through multiple initiatives at its 20 residential communities.
Twin Cities Mobile Market
A program of the Wilder Foundation, for their work to improve health outcomes by bringing healthy, affordable food to underserved neighborhoods.
