- Influence policy and legislation that will sustain the change we want to see.
- Work collaboratively with our community to develop and implement effective prevention approaches that are culture specific.

To use our collective efforts, energy, and expertise to enhance measures that safeguard our community while working to address and eliminate the root causes of sexual violence
This committee is open to folks from all levels of our community including but not limited to: prevention practitioners, advocates, community leaders/members, teachers, professors, parents/care-givers, State agency representatives, professional service providers, etc.
Purpose and goals
Purpose of Committee
Implement a sustained multidisciplinary committee that focuses on promoting healthy and safe relationships. Additionally, address the root causes of sexual violence in our community and develop comprehensive prevention strategies including but not limited to:
- Addressing current norms that contribute to an environment in which sexual violence can occur and replace them with norms that promote respect, safety, and healthy relationships.
- Recognizing and addressing various forms of oppression and societal issues and how they create a culture in which inequality thrives and violence is seen as normal.
- Designing appropriate prevention strategies based on knowledge of risk and protective factors.
- Mobilizing our community by working with men and boys as allies to prevent sexual violence.
- Influencing policy and legislation change within Ramsey County
Work collaboratively with our community and its leaders in developing culture specific sexual violence prevention solutions.
Provide ongoing support, feedback, and recommendations to different programs and initiatives dedicated to prevention of sexual violence.
Provide ongoing information about training opportunities and events surrounding sexual violence prevention.
Provide space for continued and open discussion about preventing sexual violence.
Goals
- Engage individuals and organizations from all levels of our community and all levels of learning, to participate in sexual violence prevention efforts. Sustain social change.
- Maintain a listserv that connects programs and individuals, with the aim of building capacity for cross-organizational collaboration, resource sharing, productive partnerships, and community mobilization.
- Develop initiatives on addressing the root causes of sexual violence, enhancing protective factors, and creating healthy and safe communities free from sexual violence.
